I agree that north should normally be at the top, but as long as the layout makes sense with the space, the way the building presents itself on the street, and is understandable, then I think it’s okay Think about driving with the GPS in your car. You could lock north at the top, but that would be confusing as hell.

Disclaimer: I’m not a cartographer, but I really like maps and look at them a lot

I mean, in all honesty, if the sign just had an arrow to the right it would make more sense. If you found the sign, you went in the north entrance.
